  3. Clearing an outside drain, entrance or gully, can be messy! 
  4. Use the following information to help you:

  6.     1    Clearing a grid
  7.     2    Clearing a blockage

  10. Bucket, gloves, old tin can, large impervious 
  11. plastic bag.    
  12.  
  13. Step 1 - Clearing a grid    
  14. Often a blockage is caused by debris clogged in the 
  15. grid itself. Use a stick or a rake to clear away the 
  16. leaves and debris from the grid. This can be composted.

  18. Step 2 - Clearing a blockage    
  19. The drain entrances you can see near your house are 
  20. giant versions of the waste traps under your sink. 
  21. If the drain is still blocked, you will need to clear 
  22. the blockage in the gully itself. Use an old tin can to 
  23. empty some of the water out. Use a suitable glove or 
  24. take a large plastic bag with no holes in it to cover 
  25. your arm and scoop the debris out of the drain. 
  26. Always wash thoroughly before and after.
